Our Values
Prayer
We believe in having a lifestyle of effective prayer that brings results. The disciples asked Jesus to teach them how to pray, because when Jesus went to the Father, things happened. Jesus said in Luke 19:46 that His house should be a house of prayer, and WE are His house! The things we do in prayer are not some kind of ritual or just a religious "going through motions". Rather, they are powerful acts of warfare that literally change circumstances and the political, economical, social climates of our society.
Worship
At Overflow Church, we passionately pursue an extravagant expression of worship. Worship is our way to express our love and gratitude towards God. Worship is a weapon of warfare, and when we come together corporately to celebrate Jesus, our worship is demonstrated through singing, dancing, instruments, shouting, clapping hands, etc... (Psalm 150). We also believe that worship ushers in or invites the presence of God, producing an atmosphere for the miraculous.
Giving
We give because God is a giver. We believe in giving God the First Fruits of our increase, or tithing. Giving simply reveals our heart and places us in a position of humility. The question can be asked: Does money serve you or do you serve money? Here is the real issue about money, IT ISN'T OURS! The money we have has come from God and He requires us to be faithful in the stewardship of it.
Outreach
Jesus gave the command to all believers to, "Go and make disciples, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit." We cannot sit back and wait for people to come to us. We must GO to where the lost and hurting are to show them the love of Jesus. You must have this value to touch every street and every city in your region one life at a time. Through a variety of effective models, we can bring un-reached people into the local church to be healed, delivered, matured, and released into their destiny!
Family
God loves family! Throughout the Bible, God uses marriage and families as vehicles of blessings and value-transfer. Through family is the way values, traditions, character, and identity are passed on. If we are not able to love and serve our own family, we are definitely not going to be effective for the Kingdom of God. The heart of family has come under attack by the devil and we need to fight back! Family is important and we believe that people will join our church, because of the strength and stability of our families!
Right Relationships
We desire to establish and maintain right-relationships with one another. We often don't want to admit it, but we need one another. God has created us to be in relationship with Him and with one another. We give life to one another and we receive life from one another. We desire to live transparently with one another not trying to hide what is really going on in our lives. Trusting the Holy Spirit to use others to bring life and wholeness to us. Relationships take work, and at Overflow Church, we are committed to making them work!
Equipping
We desire every believer to reach his or her greatest potential in Christ Jesus! In order to accomplish this we must give each believer the tools to be effective in the Kingdom of God! It is our value, not only to find a place of fruitful service, but also to prepare each believer with the tools to build the Kingdom of God more effectively! Every believer needs to be equipped and fitted with better tools to win the lost, disciple believers, share their faith, understand and study the Bible, discern, etc. Through listening to God's spirit, community with other believers, and intentional times of study every believer can become more mature and better equipped.
